Desert habitat in California
Observations The desert is hot, dry, and sandy with a small amount of vegetation.
Explanations Deserts receive little rainfall, have extreme temperatures, and can host very few organisms. Organisms in deserts are adapted to avoid dehydration. For example, many desert organisms are nocturnal.
