Newt
Location http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Trit%C3%B3n_NEWT.jpg
Observations This newt is laying on a green leaf. Its body looks like it is wet.
Explanations Two reasons why newts are considered to be amphibians are because they lay eggs and their young undergo metamorphosis. Newts lay eggs in water, but they make sure that they are attached to an aquatic plant. This is different from frogs because frogs lay their eggs in clumps in the water that are free to move around.
