An apple
Location http://www.ars.usda.gov/is/graphics/photos/may97/k7618-15.htm
Observations A Golden Delicious apple. It has a green exterior, a brown stem, and a green leaf.
Explanations Objects appear to be certain colors because of reflection and absorbance. Light is made up of different wavelengths that our eyes detect and convert into colors. The apple looks green because it reflects the wavelengths that correspond to the color we see as green. The apple absorbs all other wavelengths of light.
